Victoria's Secret's original ad, "The Perfect Body" sparked a huge controversy last month/The public was arguing that declaring the tall and tiny bodies of its models as being 'perfect' was sending out a dangerous message. Over 27,000 people signed a petition started by angry consumers asking for an apology, and for the campaign to be scrapped. The petition was organized by three students, Gabriella Kountourides, Laura Ferris and Frances Black, who saw the ad in a shopping centre in Leeds. Their campaign states that the ad enforces an "unhealthy and damaging message about women’s bodies and how they should be judged".

The three girls state:
- "Every day women are bombarded with advertisements aimed at making them feel insecure about their bodies, in the hope that they will spend money on products that will supposedly make them happier and more beautiful."
- "All this does is perpetuate low self-esteem among women who are made to feel that their bodies are inadequate and unattractive because they do not fit into a narrow standard of beauty."
- "It contributes to a culture that encourages serious health problems such as negative body image and eating disorders."
